How To Apply For Life Insurance

Get your cover in place quickly and easily

We want to make applying for life insurance simple

If you’re not sure how to apply for life insurance we’ve written this guide to help.

Start by getting a quote on our website. If you’re not sure what type of policy you need please have a look at some of our guides or get in touch.

It’s important to remember that we can’t offer financial advice. We do our best to give you the information you need. If you’re not sure what type of cover you need please contact an independent financial adviser.

Once you have your quote you will see the list of policies available starting with the cheapest. We have two columns for each insurance company. One column is what we describe as ‘fee based’ policies and the other is our ‘no fee’ policies. But what does that actually mean?

Fee based

If you apply for a fee based policy you will pay a one off fee of £25 and take advantage of the lowest premiums possible. This fee is paid before you complete the application but is always refundable if for any reason you choose not to take up the policy.

No fee

You will pay slightly more every month if you choose this option but you won’t pay any up-front fee to us.

What happens next?

Once you have chosen your insurer and the fee or no fee option click the APPLY button next to your chosen premium. The next screen will give you your personalised quote and a document known as the key facts. Both should be read carefully as they contain important information about the policy your applying for.

Also included here is our terms of business. Please read and keep a copy for your records.

Once your happy with all the documents please click on continue to apply.

Am I nearly there?

Yes we promise. If you have chosen the fee option you will now go ahead and pay your fee. After you have paid your fee you will continue and complete the application. It is here you will answer questions about your health, lifestyle and occupation. An average application takes about 15 minutes but it can be a bit longer if you have more complex medical information to give.

If you’ve chosen the no fee option you will be able to complete your application straight away.

I’ve applied for my policy. Now what happens?

Most applications will be accepted immediately and can start straight away or on your chosen date. If the insurance company needs more information they might write to your Doctor. In some cases they may ask you to attend a basic medical. You wouldn’t pay any extra and everything is arranged for you. It is unusual for an insurer to ask for a medical but this can happen with large life insurance policies. You can arrange the appointment at a convenient time and often at your home address.

Something’s gone wrong. What should I do?

We have worked hard on our website but if you do experience any errors or you just don’t understand part of the process please get in touch.
